For the first time in American history, more than 90 percent of our wounded soldiers survive their injuries. Support the Heroes believes that efforts to save lives off the battlefield are as important as those designed to save lives in combat.
Often their toughest fight is regaining the ability to live fulfilling and independent lives. Our foundation is dedicated to supporting these brave men and woman during this difficult transition. We believe that regardless of the severity of their injuries, veterans deserve our respect and assistance.
Support the Heroes is a private foundation that helps such severely wounded and traumatized veterans. Our gifts are based solely on a veteran's needs. To maximize our impact, we seek strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations and close relationships with governmental agencies involved in veteran's health care.
Our "Guiding Principles" have been drafted by founder Matt Kleinsmith, a former soldier and entrepreneur, and a Board of Directors consisting of veteran Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps members. The Support the Heroes Foundation was established by those who believe that individuals can make a difference.
Our duty is to serve those who have served us all.
Guiding Principles
Principle #1: Support the Heroes is dedicated to helping meet the immediate needs of severely wounded veterans and their families.
Principle #2: Support the Heroes is not designed to replace DOD or VA programs, but rather to supplement government's assistance or "bridge the gap" between existing programs and veterans' financial needs.
Principle #3: Support the Heroes seeks strategic partnerships with veterans groups, other charitable organizations, governmental agencies and the private sector.
Principle #4: Support the Heroes is an impact organization; we aim to improve the lives of wounded veterans and their families immediately.
Principle #5: Veterans are not bystanders. We want to enlist them in identifying the most effective points of intervention and provide financial relief where it is most needed.
Principle #6: Support the Heroes assists veterans of all services.
Principle #7: Support the Heroes seeks equity, fairness and a quality of life in keeping with our veterans' sacrifices.
Principle #8: Support the Heroes insists that our Board Members and strategic partners have high ethical standards.
